This year has been an exciting one with ministry in Africa, Armenia and Mexico. God blessed the ministry in Kenya. We taught at Transforming Africa Missionary Bible Training School, with whom we are partnering to reach East Africa. We organized a Pastor’s Conference with over 300 in Nairobi, as well as, various Evangelistic Meetings in Nairobi and Kisumu and a Pastor’s Seminar in Mombassa. Despite the hardships and having a break-in in the middle of the night at the missions house in Kisumu it was very rewarding to have a part in what God is doing here. We are now supporting some of the graduates who have gone out as missionaries to unreached parts of East Africa. We are also supporting the orphanage which was started by Ukrainian missionaries in Kisumu. The need is so great, plans are underway for a much larger facility. I will be heading back to Kenya in November to teach a new crop of missionary students and conduct a 3 day Evangelistic Crusade in Nairobi. |
It was great to minister again in Armenia. The nation was experiencing a military flare up with Azerbaijan and
Christians were holding prayer vigils in churches around the country. Believers were tuned into God. It was easy to minister to people who are so open to God and hungry for His Word. It was good to share this time with my good friend and colleague, Dr. Darrell Peregrym from Vancouver, Canada. We taught at theWord of Life Bible School, Leadership School and to about 1000 Pastors and Leaders. It was good to renew fellowship with various key Pastors and to meet new ones. Plans are under way for further teaching in a Missionary and Bible Training School in Yerevan. The Chiapas Region of Mexico is very special. This area has experienced a lot of political turmoil and violence in the past. It was virtually closed the the Gospel. There was much of persecution of believers and some 85 Pastors lost their lives. Today one finds churches along the windy mountainous roads and trails. After flying all night and part of the day, we drove 6 hours in a jeep high up into the mountains to Siltepec,
going around avalanches and through clouds at times in this heavily forested region. The jeep transmission gave out just as we entered the town in darkness. Some 7000 feet in elevation, we had to catch our breath as we walked up the last few blocks. I was accompanied by ministry friends and colleagues from Slavic Churches in Sacramento and Modesto. And we were joined by missionaries from Cancun. We had a wonderful pastors conference and crusade. We visited churches where graduates from Betel Bible Institute in Ensenada, under leadership of Pastor Margarito Niño, are working. We had to ride over rivers and walk to get there. I was amazed at the dedication of these young missionaries. I’m heading to Ukraine where we have invested much into God’s work. Something new is happening in the Eastern Regions that underwent a lot of turmoil and are still under the threat of war. Over a million people were displaced by the war, many losing everything. But now, revival has sprung forth. People are responding to the Gospel with a hunger not unlike that of the nineties when we planted hundreds of new churches. New churches are springing up and growing rapidly. We are bringing these church planters together to encourage and pray for them. Together with my friends and colleagues Rev. Albert Ramirez and Dr. Darrell Peregrym, we will conduct conferences in Donetsk and Zaporizhia Regions. Please pray for this. We are supporting some of these missionaries and need your involvement. Please pray for our dear friend and colleague, Dr. Tony Abram. He is recovering from a brief hospital stay with challenges with back pain and other health related issues. Pray also for Marge Abram as she needs the strength to nurse him back to health. We believe God will hear our prayers! Please also pray for Zina Shevchenko, Nina’s sister, as she will be having open heart surgery on October 9th . We are believing God for successful surgery & complete recovery. We covet your prayers! Thank you for your prayers and support! We could not do what we do without your prayers and support. Yours in Him, Walter & Nina Zygarewicz
